I'm Mrs. Evelyn 'Evie' Costello and I'm from Charlotte, NC. Here's a little information about me. I grew up as a competitive swimmer and my family helped start the swim club known as MAC located at Charlotte Latin School. I still swim laps as often as I can at the YMCA as swimming is a lifetime sport. Some of my indoor hobbies include worship at church, watching plays and musicals, going to movies. My outdoor hobbies and interests include the love of nature, snorkeling in the Caribbean, hiking and cycling on the greenway. I also like to go camping.
I am the oldest of four kids and have a BIG family. Fortunately, all of the adults still live in the Charlotte area so we don't travel to visit with family. I am married to Mr. John Costello and we have a blended family of SEVEN kids and three grandchildren. All of our children are adults and live all over the country, but our grandchildren live in Charlotte and keep us very busy.
When I was your age, I sang Chorus in middle, high school and college, as we didn't have Drama as an option. I attended Carmel Jr. High, South Mecklenburg High School and UNC Wilmington and UNC Charlotte. On stage, I enjoy singing and dancing in ensemble groups but don't consider myself a soloist. Since I'm a backstage kind of person and more interested in directing and pulling a show together rather than being in the show, that would explain why I have only performed in Children of Eden at and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. However, I have directed, A Festival of Fractured Fairy Tales, Sometimes It Hurts to Grow Up, Wendy's Tale, Middle School Madness in Minutes M3, Friday Night Live, Mulan Jr. , The Phantom Tollbooth Jr., The Crestdale Comedy Club, The Rehearsal, Opposite Machine Gadget, Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit, The Music Man Jr., A Night of Silent Moving Pictures, The Crestdale Comedy Club, Wishful Thinking, Snew White, To Art and Beyond.
I have been teaching for 18 years. I taught Early Childhood Education at Greenway Park Elementary School for six years, Theater Education at Albemarle Rd. Elementary School for two years and have taught Theater Education/ Drama at Crestdale Middle for 10 years.
I love directing and teaching students how to act and perform. I believe that there is something for everyone in theater and I love helping kids discover gifts within themselves they never realized they had. I'm so happy to be your Drama teacher and this is going to be a great year in Drama at Crestdale Middle School. I can be reached at [email protected]
I have a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education certified to teach K-6, and Theater Arts Education K-12
